Literary translation.
Although my day-to-day work is technical, literature is a test only a good translator passes — what counts isn’t meaning alone, but the author’s style, rhythm and intent.
I have two published translations from French to my name.
Literature demands something more.
That experience pays off in every assignment: it teaches a feel for language, care for how a sentence sounds and faithfulness to the author’s intent — the qualities that set a translation that reads naturally apart from one that is merely technically correct.
Popełnisz
koszmarny błąd
Olivier Sibony, Popełnisz koszmarny błąd (You’re About to Make a Terrible Mistake!), Media Rodzina, 2021 — a book about how decisions get made and cognitive biases in business.
Wilk, Lew
i ja
Wilk, Lew i ja (Media Rodzina, 2021) — a translation based on the film by Gilles de Maistre.
A light touch,
a faithful translation
A feel for language, rhythm and style, and care for staying true to the author’s intent — even when the text calls for more than a literal translation.
If you’re looking for a translator for a text that needs a light touch, I’d be glad to talk your project through.
